【Product Description】
The "Tankers," developed and adopted as a uniform for tank crews, is a colloquial name; the official name is "Winter Combat Jacket," a winter combat uniform. It has a simple design that eliminates epaulettes, etc., for wear inside a narrow tank. The standard color "khaki" used for military uniforms originally means yellowish-brown, but it comes from the Hindi word for "earth." Before World War I, uniforms were a light color, but because they were easily spotted by the enemy, the U.S. Army, which participated in World War I, changed the color of its uniforms to olive to camouflage in the battlefields of Europe, and later that color came to be called khaki. Usually, khaki is the common color for Tankers, but this is a very rare brown version that existed at the time. Why it was brown is unknown now, but this color is also "earth-colored."
