This elegant set of two oval platters was produced by Noritake during the Nippon era, a period spanning approximately 1891–1921, when Japanese porcelain was exported to Western markets and marked “Nippon” to comply with U.S. import regulations. These platters reflect Noritake’s early hand-decorated production, featuring soft florals, fine linework, and a restrained palette characteristic of turn-of-the-century tableware.
Such platters were intended for formal dining and special occasions, often used to present roasts, fish, or composed dishes in Victorian and Edwardian homes. They transition beautifully into display, serving, or layered décor—well suited to cottagecore, shabby chic, English country, and traditional interiors.
The larger platter-14 × 10.25 × 1.5", the smaller-11.75 × 8.75 × 1".
Condition: No chips or cracks observed. Minor fading to painted decoration consistent with age. The smaller platter shows a light scratch on the underside; both display well from the front.
