A very interesting postcard of the Bolshoi Theatre, sent to Mr & Mrs David Gill. Mrs Gill was aka Pauline Wadsworth, actress, ballet dancer and teacher at the Royal Ballet School. Her husband, David Gill was a producer, director and writer. Dated July 1961 - a month after Rudolf Nureyev defected to the West. The text is really interesting too : Well our stay in "Russia" seems to have been a success. I have enjoyed it very much and the men in the company have been much appreciated. The card is the Bolshoi Theatre. The sender 'Alexander', is likely to be Alexander Grant, who was on the 1961 Russia tour. He was known as one of the Royal Ballet's most celebrated character dancers. A lovely piece of historical ephemera. In good vintage condition - please see photos.
