Original Victorian made Black and Maroon Velevt Bonnet with bows and burgundy velvet ribbon tie. Strong frame, likely to be a strong Buckram. Tailing at top with wired jet beads in a bow shape and buckle at the top. Is 7 inches by 7 inches Its suppose to be worn at the back of the head over a low positioned updo, coiffure. Carefully stitched silk lining. Some marks commensurate with age but nothing to detract from look or wareability. Possibly a mourning Bonnet or for travelling, usually with fully coordinated outfit. Lovely historical piece of womens fashion accessory. Great to display or be worn for re-enactment/ history events.
