Authentic RARE "Weaving Within a Weaving" Modern Navajo Yeibichai (Yei) Weaving 16x19" Handwoven Wool Sampler Rug likely from Shiprock / Lukachukai circa 1960 - 1970s. I believe this rug can likely be attributed to the well-known Navajo weaver Della Woody Begay (b 1930) based on design and quality of craftsmanship, but it is unsigned.

Handwoven in wool on a traditional upright Navajo loom. This type of Yei rug is quite rare as it features a male and female dancer holding up a Yeibichai rug, considered a pictorial "rug within a rug" or "weaving within a weaving".

Featuring the patient (a young woman), Talking God, and 4 male dancers with a bold lightning border design. The colors are rich earth tones of gray, maroon, cream, brown, and turquoise.

Origin: Navajo Nation, likely Shiprock or Lukachukai area
Materials: Wool warp and weft, natural/synthetic dyed yarns
Weave: Traditional two-shed Navajo loom technique
Period: Circa 1950s–1970s
Size: 16" × 19" (small wall weaving or sampler
