A rare, signed mid-20th century carved alabaster sculpture by American artist Charles Salerno (b. 1916). Salerno is known for his semi-abstract stone figures, often simplified into flowing organic forms.

• Title/Subject: Reclining Female Nude ("The Bather")

• Date: Mid-20th century (c. 1940s–1950s)

• Medium: Carved alabaster (stone with natural veining and warm tones)

• Size: Approx. 8 in. (length)

• Signature: Incised SALERNO on the reverse

• Condition: Good vintage condition; light wear and surface marks consistent with age. Natural variations in the stone present. Please see photos for details.

This work closely resembles Salerno's documented marble carving The Bather (1945), which has appeared in past auctions (Artnet). It reflects the artist's modernist interpretation of the human form, blending figurative detail with abstract simplicity.
