This is an original mid-19th century spirits bottle, hand-blown in aqua green glass. The form is a flattened oval “chestnut” style flask, widely used for brandy and cognac imports during the 1800s.

Features:

Height: approx. 10.5″

Width: ~4″ at base, ~5.5″ at widest point, ~2–2.5″ thick

Color: light aqua/green with bubbles and natural glass irregularities

Construction: mold-blown body with wavy, discontinuous seams; short hand-tooled lip; irregular kick-up base

Label fragment: retains part of its original tamper strip across the cork, ornate bordered paper ending in “…LEON” – almost certainly from a “NAPOLEON” Cognac/Brandy seal. Paper does not fluoresce under UV, consistent with 19th-century manufacture

Condition: Excellent for age. No cracks or repairs. Normal surface wear and minor roughness consistent with 150+ years of age.
