Hemmed.
Levi's adopted zippers in 1951. At the time, they were combined with the traditional XX denim, and the characteristic of XX denim, which was to shrink and conform to the wearer's body shape, caused the zipper to warp. Therefore, they began developing pre-shrunk XX denim. In 1961, they began using pre-shrunk denim that wouldn't shrink even after washing, and the 551Z, which was the first to use pre-shrunk denim, was born. The silhouette adopted a slim fit to meet the needs of the Eastern American market. This silhouette and the combination of a zipper fly gained popularity in the Eastern market, and it became the predecessor of the 505.
