The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Grindley, a pottery maker working in Tunstall in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century. The pattern features oversized Daffodils, wild grasses and flowering phlox gracing the lid with a landscape scene of a young boy watching a sailing vessel rounding a huge castle. Repeating vignettes of luscious Daffodils along the rim. This delightful Victorian aesthetic covered tureen is transfer printed in rich dark Brown with a pearlware glaze. Exquisite 1882 aestehtic movement tureen in great antique condition.
