Beautiful vintage gold plated heart locket with a smaller heart covered in filigree layered on top with a painted oval on the center front. Oval has a painted scene with an Edwardian dressed man and woman sitting together outside. Hung on a vintage gold-plated chain necklace. This is a "Fragonard" or "courting couple" locket due to the painted scene on the front. The term "Fragonard" refers to the style of the image, which is reminiscent of the rococo painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The locket is characterized by its ornate scrollwork filigree surrounding the central oval image.
