Up for sale is an old Chinese stone carving of four pigs (sow and piglets), carved from a stone of even black tone with some brownish mottlings with a large standing sow and three piggies lying on the ground, all pigs showing a "happy" look, the carved group symbolizing harvest, happiness and harmony in old China. The stone, probably limestone was finely polished and feels very smooth to the touch. Early 20th century, Republic period. Good condition with minor wear, scratches, nicks and other age marks. The carving comes with an original wood base carved with pine-tree leaf motifs symbolizing longevity.
