This original & vintage movie Lobby Card Set of 8 for the 1972 political comedy drama “The Candidate” directed by Michael Ritchie & starring Robert Redford as the idealistic young candidate modeled on U.S. Senator John Tunney, Peter Boyle & Melvyn Douglas.

This completely unrestored film theater lobby card (11” x 14”) set of 8 is in very fine to near mint condition. This set of lobby cards are really in fantastic condition. The cards have pretty minor wear & tear with light edge wear. While the lobby cards are over 50 years old, they look terrific!

The Oscar-winning screenplay, which examines the various facets & machinations involved in political campaigns, was written by Jeremy Larner, a speechwriter for Senator Eugene McCarthy during McCarthy's campaign for 1968 Democratic presidential nomination. Larner’s script includes Larner’s experiences with various politicians & he used some stuff that was directly from the campaigns The film has a famous ending dripping in irony.
