Beautifully hand carved and painted. Uncertain of origin, though details seem to most closely reflect being of Mexican, Peruvian or Spanish origin.
Some sort of clear or protective coating was used over the or original paint. Perhaps wax, oil or some sort of fat substance. Some blue foreign substance seems to have attached itself to one side of the horse - please see pictures. Legs are attached separately, as is tail. Eyelashes around horse eyes seem adjacent to more antique or vintage forms of American folk art.
Height is approximately 8”, length approximately 14”.
