Vintage 70mm Standard Cigarette Case — Orange Tortoiseshell Marble Acrylic

Another great vintage item from the glory days of cigarette smoking. This case is at least 60 years old if not older. When cigarettes in the USA were first manufactured in 1865 they were hand rolled on a farm in Raleigh NC & sold to soldiers at the end of the civil war. In 1881 a machine was introduced so mass production could begin and this is when cigarette smoking became widespread. Cigarettes were about 70mm in length and non filtered. It wasn't until 1952 that filtered cigarettes were introduced.

This orange marble acrylic case is in good condition. Due to its age it has a few scratches. As pictured the back side has expanded. The center piece comes out & as shown there are 2 places where it kind of snaps into place. 2 compartments from front to back you can put a 75mm smoke but if you try to slide the smoke under the center piece then the length is only about 62mm. Weight is 3.2oz. Approx dims are 5 5/8" x 3 3/8" x 1/2". A very cool little case that I have never seen before.
