I found this piece in a little thrift shop during my early days of collecting. This very old antique peacock pin brooch was used to fasten thick mantu shawls for Peruvian women. From what I have found while doing some research, is there should be three chains with objects hanging from the very bottom of this pin.
Appears to have 2 more birds at the base of the peacock and possibly a hand at bottom center.
There’s a prong set oval amber glass cabochon in the center. The back has a loose fitting C clasp pin. Looks like it might be a replacement. The only thing that is magnetic is the actual pin. I’m guessing it’s made of bronze, low grade silver or pot metal, definitely not sterling silver. Thanks for looking.
