Dear Sara:
I am writing to you to express my appreciation for your father’s work and his legacy. I have been a lifelong fan and admirer, although I was only 3 years old when he passed, I have long recognized a magic in him that is unmatched to this day. I am a fan of the horror genre, and am encouraged to see that there are some new movies out there ( “The Babadook” and “It Follows” among them) that lend themselves to the same aesthetic your father’s movies possessed….giving the audience credit for their intelligence and leaving the gore, as it where, to the imagination.
I am also a HUGE Grinch admirer….I collect Lenox Grinch figurines, and smile as I look at them each Christmas….seeing your father’s face in that lovable character as much as I did in the horrific, yet sympathetic monster he created all those years ago. His magic is the stuff of legend! His is a name, and screen personality loved by my own teenage son, and I’m sure his children to come as well. Thank you for allowing us, his fans, to reach out to him through you. What an honor it must be to refer to him as “Dad”.
