I have been drawing and painting monsters and fantastic creatures as long as I can remember, but nothing gets the old creative juices going like the classics from Universal. I feel that Karloff, in particular, had an extremely expressive face. That fact that he could communicate such pathos with a character like Frankenstein’s monster, who as an assemblage of dead bodies, is quite admirable indeed. His presence on the screen is captivating and he serves as a wonderful subject for artwork.
I like to work in oil, acrylic and watercolor, primarily. You can see more of my work on my website at www.dougwaterfield.com. My email address is doug@dougwaterfield.com. Some works are for sale, and I am available for commissions as well.
